Martin was
walking around his neighborhood, in his grey joggers and white tee. His boyish,
freckled face was smiling everywhere his milk chocolate eyes were gleaming
towards. And under slightly uneven light brown hair, all the 13 year old boy
could think about, were all the cool adventures his favorite superheroes go on.
He imagined how he would react, and fare if he were one too. One that saves the
day, and stops the bad guys.
Although, this is just a dream for most, Martin feels that he isn’t like most.
He might actually be able to make a difference. His father has trained him for
over 10 years, and Martin knows physical combat like most boys would know
video games. Martin is proud of this, but knows that with great power, comes great
responsibility.
Not only is he educated in Martial Arts, Martin has a strong figure that will undoubtedly only mature as his grows as a teenager. Although he doesn’t really jump out in his school, on deeper inspection, it’s clear that Martin is very fit for his age. Pound for pound, he's easily one of the strongest kids in his class throughout the years, and a couple of jerks learned that the hard way.
But for the most part, Martin hasn’t had many opportunities outside of training, where he’s had to flex his 13 year old muscles. Martin is naturally a happy and nice guy, with a pleasant demeanor, and most people don't press him. It’s not like Martin wants to, either. He knows he could take advantage of the skill and strength he has over his peers, but he doesn’t want to do that. It’s not what his favorite superheroes do. What they do, is stand up to bullies and jerks and for their friends, and so does Martin.
Martin even
has his own YouTube channel, which he made to help kids his age and anyone else
with workout and defense tips. He tries to update and stay active with his
channel, because he really wants to help people out, and he knows he can help
this way. He can help give tips on how to get the most out of a workout, using
the proper form that his Dad has shown him, and also some of the best ways to
defend yourself from bullies. Martin takes pride in his YouTube channel, because
not only is he sharing goodness, but he’s been getting positive reinforcement.
He’s been thanked for the content and even asked to show certain techniques.
Martin is happy that he can help people like this, and strives to make a
difference in the world.
However,
he's still a 13 year old boy. He's young, and not always the most perfect kid.
But, he tries his best to live up to his superhero role models. And he
does that, both in and out of school.
The dream
Martin had when he woke up, was still vivid in his mind. It almost felt like
more than a dream. It made him feel empowered, capable. This felt real to
Martin.
Captain Karate, he said to
himself with a grin of pride. Martin really liked it.
